As well as being fun, creative writing can:
- aid relaxation
and reduce stress
- encourage
self-reflection and self-appraisal
- be used as
an on-going learning tool
- assist in
the exploration of feelings and in finding a way forward
- build confidence
and communication skills
- break down
isolation and help maintain a sense of well-being
I facilitate community art projects in which I collaborate with
visual and other artists. I also organise and run one-off or on-going
workshops and courses in using creative writing as a healing tool
and in reflective journaling. These client-centred sessions are
of particular interest to:
- people who would like to explore their own healing potential
through writing
- health professionals
- people with specific health needs, particularly depression and
anxiety.
Previous clients include: local community art centres; psychotherapists;
the Scarborough Psychotherapy Institute; local voluntary groups;
Scarborough Survivors; Mencap; NSPCC domestic violence unit, York;
a residency at Scarborough museum services - see photo album.

is good to have an end to journey towards, but it is the journey
that matters in the end"
